Craft / Fabric

At TONE DEAF, denim is a craft. This pair begins with our new slub yarn, developed to create texture and natural variation throughout the fabric. It is woven, dyed, cut, stitched, and finished entirely under one roof, giving us complete control over every detail, from the tension of the weave to the shape of the silhouette.

The irregular character of the slub yarn gives the denim its visible texture and depth. The tinted finish adds color while allowing that texture to remain present across the surface of the fabric. The use of machines doesn’t make the process any less human or complex. Denim, to me, is a poetic process.
