Craft / Fabric

At TONE DEAF, denim is a craft. Every pair begins with raw fiber selected for quality, durability, and feel. It is woven, dyed, cut, stitched, and finished entirely under one roof, giving us complete control over every detail, from the tension of the weave to the shape of the silhouette.

The Mirage treatment is the result of a 15-step recipe developed over several years with our dye house. The surface is painted and finished by hand to create a soft peach-fuzz effect. As the angle changes, so does the way the denim catches light, giving it a subtle glow.

The more complex our dye treatments have become, the more handmade the finishing process has become. Working within our vertically integrated denim facility allows us to develop the fiber, control the weave, and carry the Mirage treatment through every stage in the same place. Denim, to me, is a poetic process.

You can learn more about the full process on the About page.
